Middle East/North Africa Tax Forum held in Ankara

The 7th Middle East/North Africa Tax Forum-MENA Forum was held under the joint auspices of Turkish Revenue Administration and International Tax and Investment Center (ITIC) between November 8-10, 2016 in Ankara.

The forum commenced with the opening speeches delivered by Revenue Administration Commissioner Adnan Ertürk and ITIC President Mr. Daniel Witt who addressed a distinguished body of audience representing multiple finance ministries, tax administrations and various governmental agencies and academic institutions.

Pointing out the utmost importance of transparency, exchange of information and national experience of respective countries when it comes to cross-jurisdictional tax matters in his opening remarks, Commissioner Ertürk elaborated further on the ever mounting need for tax-related revenues for the governments that are increasingly face the obligation to diversify the sources of their national coffers due deterioration in conventional financial sources.

Middle East/North Africa Tax Forum is multi-jurisdiction cooperation platform launched by International Tax and Investment Center, a US-based independent, nonprofit research and education organization that was founded in 1993 to promote tax reform and public-private initiatives to improve the investment climate in transition and developing economies.

Via its 12 offices scattered around the world, ITIC works with ministries of finance, customs services and tax authorities in 85 countries, as well as international and regional financial institutions engaged in tax policy and tax administration issues.
