Last Week in Turkish Economy(25-29 January, 2016)

Weekly data and development in Turkish economy between 25-29 January, 2016:

  • Consumer price index (CPI) increased by 1.82% in January 2016.

    A monthly rise in general index of CPI (2003=100) was observed as 1.82% compared to previous month. The same index has shown a rise of  9.58% compared to the same month of previous year and increased by 7.87% on average in the last twelve months.

  • Domestic producer price index increased by 0.55%

    Domestic producer price index (D-PPI) increased by 0.55% on a monthly basis, and increased by 0.55% compared to December of the previous year.On the other hand, the same index increased by 5.94% on same month of the previous year basis and increased by 5.50% on the twelve months moving averages basis in January 2016.

  • Economic confidence index decreased by 16.8%

    Economic confidence index is a composite index that encapsulates consumers’ and producers’ evaluations, expectations and tendencies about general economic situation. The index is combined by means of a weighted aggregation of normalized sub-indices of consumer confidence, seasonally adjusted real sector (manufacturing industry), services, retail trade and construction confidence indices.

    Economic confidence index decreased by 16.8% compared to previous month coming down from 100.81 to 83.88 in January. This decrease in economic confidence index stemmed largely from the decreases in services, real sector (manufacturing industry), consumer and construction confidence indices.
