The inauguration conference of ‘Technical Assistance Project for Fight Against Informal Economy and Improvement of Administrative Capacity of the Turkish Revenue Administration’ which is jointly financed by Turkish Republic and European Union was held in Ankara in May 3, 2016.

The purpose of this project is to increase the administrative capacity in the fight against the informal economy in Turkey and to improve the efficiency of the tax administration in line with fiscal blueprints. Once in place at full capacity, the EU-financed project will support the Turkish Revenue Administration to:

i) increase tax compliance and raise public awareness on the informal economy;

ii) enhance the institutional capacity and improve the service quality for reducing the informal economy; and

iii) improve service quality, simplification of taxation processes and enhancing tax awareness.

Tax awareness and public awareness with respect to informal economy in Turkey is expected to be enhanced via a grand communication strategy including slogans, posters, billboards, TV spots, radio spots, announcements, etc.
